Meet Our Workforce

One of the unique aspects of Shishukunj is that all our activities however large or small are created, organised and delivered by our own volunteer members from the age of 12 upwards. This is part of our ideal to train and develop our child members to become leaders within our own organisation.

To achieve this, from the age of 12 onwards all our child members are trained in various areas such as child psychology and development, management and leadership skills and are encouraged with supervision to begin looking after or handling activities for our younger members. As their training develops they eventually achieve a trainee or ‘Talimi’ Karyakar status. This is a status that acknowledges their commitment, development and potential.

With further experience we aim that they become fully fledged Karyakars, which are the spine of our workforce. The role of a karyakar is wide-reaching and encompasses a desire to always act as a role-model to our child members in all ways of life and an ability to inspire, lead and train our future workforce.

Due to this model of constant evolution of our workforce from within, we are able to constantly re-innovate and also provide a remarkable interaction between our child and karyakar that is beyond what is seen in a normal teacher-student relationship. We are their friend, guide, role-model, teacher and above all their sibling.
